Large Space Antennas

Large space antennas that have the capability of being cured in space orbit

Ewingar Scientific’s Director, Dr Alexey Kondyurin, has developed a state-of-the-art process for building large and long-lasting inflatable space antennas. Large aperture antennas for space applications are made using advanced composite materials technology in which liquid resin is applied directly in free space (in space orbit). The antenna is impregnated with a liquid matrix (prepreg) prior to the structure being launched into space. The structure is assembled with membrane, folded and packed in a container. On arrival at its space destination, the antenna and frame are inflated and cured in-situ.

Advantages of Ewingar Scientific’s large space antennas

Large antenna dish: >100 m diameter

Deployable in space orbit in minutes

Curable in space orbit in hours

Lifespan: 20 years

Inexpensive and robust

Applicable for LEO, GEO, Moon and Mars surfaces*, asteroids, deep space

High gain

Low mass
*smaller diameter due to gravity
